Young Gurudeo had sharp intellect, but he could not stand first in his class for some time. He discovered the reason by minutely observing the daily routine of the boy who secured first place. He found that the boy daily visited Maruti temple and bowed down to the deity. There after young Gurudeo started the same practice. Before going to school, he would begin mental recitation of the 'Hymn to Hanuman' by saint Ramdas, finish it till he reached Maruti's temple on the way, lay prostrate before the deity and then proceed to the school. Within a few months, young Gurudeo stood first in the class. This increased his devotion to the deity.
