Young Gurudeo's mother Parvatibai had taken her child to her spiritual master, Swami Mahalingayya for his blessings. Swamiji used to sit in the verandah of Nandikeshwar temple in Jamkhandi. The Swamiji was looking at the boy lying prostrate at his feet. He raised his eyes from the boy and began to look at the sky with fixed and steady gaze. It seems he had a vision of the future greatness of the boy. Swamiji remarked ......
' Your son is a great saint of the future; so I must bow myself before him' and saying thus Swamiji greeted at the feet of infant Gurudeo. The mother Parvatibai was simply amazed with a sense of gratification and devotion. Immediately after her arrival at home, she gave the child good bath, applied kumkum to his forehead, placed a garland of flowers round his neck and washed his pretty feet. Young Gurudeo was astonished at this strange behavior of mother and asked her ' what is this mother'? "You are a saint my darling" replied the mother.
